Junior/Mid-Level Estimator for Heavy Civil Construction
We’re looking for an ambitious Junior to Mid-Level Estimator to join our growing Heavy Civil Construction team in New Jersey. This is a great opportunity for someone who’s recently completed a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or has 2–5 years of experience in estimating civil and infrastructure projects. As a Junior/Mid Estimator, you’ll play a key role in supporting our estimating team by helping to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of public and private infrastructure projects. You’ll work closely with senior estimators and project managers, gaining hands-on experience while contributing to projects that shape our communities.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
- Assist in reviewing project plans, specifications, and documents to develop detailed cost estimates
- Collaborate with senior estimators to identify potential risks, scope gaps, or inconsistencies
- Perform quantity take-offs and help prepare bid proposals
- Support in developing cost breakdowns for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors
- Help prepare RFIs, bid packages, and vendor solicitations
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and occasional site visits to understand field conditions
- Research and update cost data, productivity rates, and construction trends
- Work with project managers and engineers to ensure estimate accuracy and project alignment
Qualifications
Candidates must possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
- 2–5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil, infrastructure, or site development projects
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with high attention to detail
- Proficiency with estimating tools such as Bid2Win, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or AGTEK preferred
- Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and documentation
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
- Self-motivated, curious, and eager to grow in a professional estimating environment
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
